blog 4)-"Mr Seto"-"Wei Wenbo"-"tastes and preferences"

There are some differences about tastes and preferences between me and my parents. My parents are both from small villages and their families were very poor in my parents’ childhoods. When they were in school, the aim of studying is to find a job which can offer them steady salary. They tend to live a simple life. They did not consume nearly anything that they thought are unnecessary, including travelling, fast food, and new appliances. They seldom surf the Internet and they do not believe it. But for me, I grew up in a small town, without worry about whether I can eat my fill and wear warm clothes. As for job, salary is not the only factor that determines whether I choose the job; I will consider whether I am good at and like it. I’d like to buy something I like; even sometimes I do not need it. I enjoy the food in KFC or McDonalds’. I think Internet is necessary for today' life; and shopping online is an important way to satisfy life needs. Thus it can be seen, my parents’ preferences are different from mine, but I think it is acceptable for my parents and me. Having different tastes between two generations is reasonable, and I think what people should do is just to respect others’ choices.

  1. I hope you are grateful that you have more choices than your parents had. Take full advantage of your privileges living in this era.
