Blog3-Mr Seto-Dong Fangzhou-"A perfect world"

For me, the world would be a better place if there were only one language on the earth. There are too many languages in the world and people from different cultural backgrounds usually find it too difficult to communicate with each other if they do not share the same second-language. What’s more, people usually make many efforts to learn a foreign language for many kinds of purpose such as self-development. For example, we sm3 students have to learn English every day and every night to get prepared for our future learning as well as getting adjusted to the social environment in Singapore. On the contrary, if there were only one language in the world, all the efforts that are made for foreign language learning and translating would be avoided and people would make full use of the spared efforts to do more important things. And all the human beings would be able to talk to one another and exchange ideas freely. If it were to happen, the earth would be a wonderful place for people to live in and the human society would run more smoothly.

  1. I also wish that there would be only one language. In this language, we would have no difficulty in communicating with foreigners, and even with animals.
If so, we might spend more time on the academic learning. It is so wonderful.

  2. I disagree. Language learning is a very beautiful experience. I can't imagine if the whole world speaks only English or Chinese. Imagine if songs are only in one language. How boring would this earth be!
