In terms of tastes and preferences, there are many differences between my generation and my parents’. And we also have a lot in common. Firstly, we love different kind of food. In my hometown, people in my parents’ age love to eat pancake in almost every meal. On the contrary, I never find the pancake delicious, and always complain that it is too hard to chew up. Instead, I am fond of having some unhealthy fast foods which are usually sold in McDonald’s or Berger King. However, we both love having fried potatoes, mutton soup and fish dishes which are usually made by my grandparents! Therefore, it is the most wonderful time when we are having lunch together in my grandparents’ home.
Secondly, our preferences of music are dramatically different. My parents love to listen to the songs which were very popular one decade ago, but I always listen to the western pop songs, especially hip-hop and R&B. My favorites are Rihanna , Katy Perry and Eminem. What is more, there is no surprising that neither of us likes the music groups from Korea or Japan which consist of many young singers and dancers. And we are both interested in traditional Chinese opera, such as Beijing Opera and the traditional opera in Shandong Province, though we do not frequently listen to them. Sometimes, we also enjoy the orchestra concert together.
In general, although our preferences and tastes are quite different in some areas, we can still share some hobbies and always have an amazing time doing things we both love to do.
