blog2)-"Mr Seto"-"Wei Wenbo"-"an interesting viewpoint about Valentines' Day"

I had read a viewpoint which I think was quite interesting in the Straits Times (February 11, 2012) and I want to share with you.
The author, named John Lui, said that he was horror of the day of the year set aside for romance. The way he saw it, it is a day that his lover sees sweet, endearing person he could be, but choose not to be for the other 364 days of the year which he thought was a problem with this lovers’ festival. And he had to prepare for gifts on Valentine’s Day, which if are not appropriate for his partner, crisis would come soon.
Here I want to share a pretty interesting paragraph about an inappropriate gift as he described:
Some think that it is effort that counts, not the results. So what they are saying is that women should pat boyfriends on the head and say “well done” when they cook a Valentine’s Day meal ineptly or bake something that looks like a something that smashed against another thing then fell on the floor and caught fire.(Note to men: if all you can cook is pasta, do not boast that you can cook. You cannot. A marmoset can be trained to make pasta. A women who eats you pasta is either desperate or trying to avoid a divorce.)  (paragraph 16.)
And he came up with a new festival. Festival Of Lowered But Realistic Sustainable Expectations, is the name of the new festival, including something like gazing each other for a full five minutes. And the festival is quite “quiet”, I think, but more safe for love, in author’s eyes.

  1. The paragraph you quoted is very interesting.
Perhaps there should be more explanations about the issue and your own opinions towards this Valentine's Day phenomenon and the new Festival Of Lowered But Realistic Sustainable Expectations.
